Car you want shows up on Craigslist but Christmas plus traveling plus bad time to sell car all conspires against you

After I bought my 944, there remained a handful of cars to which I thought, “yeah, that would have been a little better for where I’m at.” Well one of them, a German one, a coupe one, an AWD one was listed on CL last week about 30 minutes away. So I’m sitting here like.

Kinja'd!!!

Let me list all the reasons now is a terrible time to try and jockey a sale of the 944 and the purchase of a different old German car:

Christmas - The season where you are supposed to...ahhh... give to others and stuff.

Traveling for Christmas - I leave for a week in less than a week.

It’s the middle of winter - “This most recent ice storm makes me really want an old Porsche” everyone thinks to themselves.

The 944 has a cracked dash and bolster wear that I haven’t gotten around to fixing but I know it’ll bump the sale ease and price.

I hear you, a few motorcycles popped up on Craigslist that i would love to check out and potentially buy but one i have to apply for a Texas license first and then get my M1 endorsement and two, i leave for two weeks to visit home in California. Very shitty timing.

You can always give other ppl in your life the incalculable gift of being with a happy, contented, newly automotively-fulfilled you ;-)

This is kind of actually true. My 2 year old has not liked the tight quarters of the 944 lately, soooo, she would be happy because this car has a seat with a middle position(put the feet inbetween the seat when she stretches) and a coupe extra inches of legroom.

I’m kind of hoping everyone else is in the same spot and I have time to list my 944 for something reasonable.

I actually asked the dealer about trade, I’ll see what they say. I noticed a 924 on their lot, so maybe they’d be interested at a reasonable price...

ime this is really a thing...the dissatisfaction only increases and gets more and more vocal weekly. To be fair to them, tho, they don’t get any smaller, instead bigger and bigger

nope, won’t be me. I mean, if I did sand, reinforce, and recover the dash I’d ask more but my ad won’t be a lame attempt to reimagine my car(this car would be totally sweet if only...)

And if I’m sitting in MN and a day or two away from coming home, and the other car is still available, I may list the 944. And I’d at least consider ordering a cover for the dash(there is a plastic one that looks better than the carpet ones but not as nice as a full redo).

Also, I KNOW WHAT I HAVE!
